Lessons & Carols: Mothering God, Who Gave Us Birth
On Sunday, December 15, the Sanctuary at FUMC Denton was filled with joy, reverence, and awe as our community gathered for Mothering God, Who Gave Us Birth: A Musical Reflection on the Genealogy of Jesus, this year’s service of Lessons & Carols.
The morning featured a blend of beloved Advent and Christmas hymns alongside new musical reflections, all centered on the unique theme of Christ’s lineage. The FUMC Chancel Choir, Bells Angels Handbell Choir, and a talented ensemble of instrumentalists joined forces to create a truly stunning musical experience.
A highlight of the service was the inclusion of original music composed by members of our very own congregation, including the talented Christie Wood. Their contributions brought a deeply personal and meaningful dimension to the celebration.
The Sanctuary was packed, with attendees of all ages joining in this cherished tradition. The morning was a profound reminder of the beauty of our shared faith and the power of music to bring us closer to the heart of the Advent season.
Thank you to everyone who made this morning so special. It was truly a morning to remember as we journey together toward the joy of Christmas.
