Lent, Holy Week, & Easter at FUMC Denton
This year, our Lenten worship series, Holy Rebellion: When Faith Disrupts Our World, invites us to encounter Jesus not as a passive teacher, but as a revolutionary force. The Gospel of Luke reveals a Savior who disrupts the status quo—challenging comfort, confronting injustice, and calling us to something radically different. From shaking the foundations of religious and social norms to redefining power, healing, and grace, Jesus’ ministry is one of holy disruption.
While embracing a faith that unsettles might feel uncomfortable, scripture reminds us that the Kindom of God is built not through complacency, but through courage. This season, we invite you to step into the bold, rebellious love of Christ as we journey together toward the cross—and ultimately, the empty tomb.
Our Lenten 2025 sermon series “Holy Rebellion: When Faith Disrupts Our World” will focus on the stories of Jesus from Luke. As part of our spiritual growth together, we invite the entire FUMC Denton community to read the book of Luke during the six weeks from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday. This daily reading guide includes all of Luke as well as related Old Testament passages.
