Easter Update

Dear Friends in Christ,

As we prepare to celebrate new life in Christ this Easter, I want to tell you about an exciting opportunity to gather as a faith family on this special day.

This Easter, we will join together for inspirational worship and celebration outdoors on the church’s East Lawn. We’ll have our choir, brass, and bands. We’ll have all of us together and an open invitation to the neighborhood to join. And, most importantly, we’ll have the Spirit of life in Christ we celebrate at Easter bringing joy, newness, and hope after all we have experienced this last season. Easter on the East Lawn with First United Methodist Church of Denton will be a powerful, joyful celebration!

On April 4, there will be two services at 9 and 11 am, as well as a sunrise service led by our youth at 7 am and our Spanish-language service, Jesus Fuente de Vida at 12:30 pm. We will also offer online worship experiences at all the usual times on the church’s website, cable TV, and our Facebook pages for those who are not able to attend in person. The whole morning will be open to all—so invite friends and family to join us for this special day.

You are likely wondering how you can help. Here are some ideas:

  • Pray daily for this endeavor!

  • Volunteer to help us offer warm hospitality to all who come by greeting or by helping with set up and tear down. Sign up here.

  • Plan to attend one of our worship services at 9 or 11, or 7 am sunrise service. Bring your own blanket or lawn-chair for comfortable seating for each member of your household. No registration is required!

  • Come early for accessible parking in our East lot or in the city lot on Mulberry Street. Enjoy the morning together with inspirational music beginning 20 minutes prior to each service.

  • We will also be collecting food for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Bring canned goods or if you have been part of our Neighborhood Mission Corner, bring your collection. For details of what to bring and how to care for our neighbors through our partners at The Junction and Shiloh Food Pantry, visit fumcdenton.com/neighborhood.

  • Masking and physical distancing is requested and will maximize participation.

Make plans now to be a part of this great celebration of Easter hope through this wonderful opportunity for worship. Whether you join us in person or online, we look forward to worshiping with you.

In Christ,
Jonathan Perry
