What an incredible evening at FUMC Denton! Our annual Trunk or Treat brought so much joy, energy, and color to our campus — and we were thrilled to welcome a huge crowd of children, families, and neighbors from across our community.

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our congregation, we collected—and handed out—all 31,000+ pieces of candy by 7pm! Every single treat went into the hands of excited trick-or-treaters, and every moment was filled with laughter, creativity, and connection.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped bring this event to life—our volunteers, participants, and especially Pastor Sheryl and the Children’s Ministry Council (CMC) for their leadership, planning, and creativity. This event is a joy each year because of you!

Creative Trunks and Friendly Competition:

This year’s trunks were some of the most imaginative yet — from spooky to sweet to everything in between! Some special shout-outs from the evening’s 30 awards:

Texanna, Gabby, Krystal, and Jovani gathered in front of the Howdy by 29 ice cream truck and Krystal’s witch-themed trunk.

  • Crowd Favorite: Howdy By 29 and their delightful ice-cream truck

  • Most Authentic: Our own Director of Communications, Krystal, and her best friend Jovani for their enchanting witch-themed trunk

  • Scariest Display: The FUMC Denton Youth Group, who had so much fun at their VeggieTales-inspired trunk

And the creativity didn’t stop there — we were blown away by:

A child dressed in black robes “walking the plank” to get candy at Tabitha’s pirate-themed trunk.

  • A pirate-themed trunk complete with a “walk the plank” challenge

  • A magical Yellow Brick Road from the Rives and Crawfords, with stunning Wizard of Oz and Wicked costumes

  • Donna and Jim’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trunk giving out pizza gummies from a pizza box!

  • The Roland family’s picture-perfect Grinch sleigh and costumes

  • Adorable pastel ghosts for the “spooky cute era” trunk

  • Lifeguards, Peter Pan, Scooby-Doo, classic Halloween magic, and dozens more creative displays!

All in all, we had over 40 trunks filled with excitement, imagination, and love for our community!

Thank You!

This event is one of our favorite ways to surround our community with joy, creativity, and welcome. Thank you to every person who donated candy, decorated a car, volunteered their time, and showed up with a smile. You make this tradition special year after year.

We also loved hosting ministry partners and neighbors like Denton County Friends of the Family and Howdy By 29, who joined in the fun with their own trunks.

Check out some more of the fun below—thanks to Emilio Mesa Photography for capturing the magic!

We can’t wait to do it again next year. Until then—thank you for shining God’s love into every life…one candy bucket at a time!
