Behind the Ballot Box 2.0: Empowering Informed Voters
At FUMC Denton, we believe civic engagement is a faithful expression of loving our neighbors and participating in the common good. On January 13, our Church & Society Committee hosted Behind the Ballot Box 2.0, a non-partisan voter education event designed to help demystify the voting process and equip our community with accurate, timely information.
Christie A. Wood offered an inside look at how elections work at the precinct level, including updates on new laws affecting voter registration and voting procedures. She was joined by Jane Scholz, retired journalist and Denton County activist with Voting Centers Now!, who shared how local residents can advocate for changes that would allow voters to cast ballots at any precinct on Election Day. Together, our speakers helped clarify common questions, reduce confusion around voting requirements, and highlight the importance of informed participation in our democratic process.
