Archangel Cantata

Advent is a season of anticipation, hope, and wonder—and this past Sunday, FUMC Denton welcomed it in the most beautiful way with the Archangel Cantata.

This original work, created by local musician and stained glass artist Christie Wood, was brought to life by our Chancel Choir and Bells Angels Handbell Choir. Through scripture, choral music, and handbells, the Cantata tells the story of the Incarnation from the perspective of Archangels Michael and Gabriel, inviting all who attended to reflect on the mystery and joy of God’s arrival among us.

The Sanctuary was filled with light, music, and sacred storytelling. Every note, every voice, and every bell resonated with hope, perfectly capturing the spirit of Advent. For those who couldn’t join us in person—or want to experience it again—you can watch the livestream linked above.

We are so grateful for our musicians, volunteers, and everyone who joined us to kick off Advent in such a meaningful way. The season has just begun, and there’s so much more ahead: special services, community dinners, and festive events designed to help us reflect, celebrate, and prepare for Christmas together.
