Serving with Love Through Angel Tree
If you stepped into the Angel Tree room last week, you were met with a powerful sight: rows of red bags, each one filled with carefully chosen, unwrapped gifts—each one representing love, dignity, and care for a family in our community.
This is what Christmas generosity looks like at FUMC Denton.
Through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, our congregation once again showed up to help ensure children and families in Denton and the surrounding area experience the joy of Christmas morning. Angel tags were prayerfully selected, gifts thoughtfully purchased, and everything returned with care—ready to be delivered into homes where this season might otherwise feel heavy or uncertain.
One of the most meaningful parts of this year’s Angel Tree was the way our youth stepped into the spirit of giving. On November 30, students in 6th–12th grade climbed into vehicles together and headed to Walmart for their annual Angel Tree shopping trip. With laughter, teamwork, and intention, they worked together to choose gifts, stretch shared resources, and imagine the joy their shopping would bring to someone else. Afterward, they shared a meal and enjoyed time spent as a community.
These moments matter. They are how generosity becomes something we practice, not just something we talk about.
Angel Tree is about showing up, doing what we can, and trusting that God weaves our offerings together with the wider community to meet real needs. This year, FUMC Denton participated in caring for hundreds of angels, joining countless others across Denton and beyond who answered the call to give. Together, that collective care becomes something far greater than any one group could accomplish alone.
To every person who picked up a tag, shopped, donated, helped organize, or prayed over these gifts: thank you. You have helped shine God’s love into the lives of children and families who need it most this season.
This is holy work—packed with love.
