Announcing Rev. Jonathan Perry’s transition to Executive Pastor

Dear FUMC Denton Friends and Family,

SPRC is pleased to announce Reverend Jonathan Perry’s transition to Executive Pastor of Strategic Leadership for FUMC Denton effective January 4, 2021

Understanding the shifting needs of our church, the opportunities for our church to continue to grow in ministry, and God’s call to deepen relationships within our community, Reverend Lee initiated a dialogue with Reverend Perry on how his ministry might continue to expand beyond the Open Worship community. After much discussion, discernment and prayer, and the support of Bishop Michael McKee and District Superintendent Ron Henderson, a proposal was sent to SPRC for its consideration and approval. SPRC approved the position and presented it to the Administrative Board for funding as a part of the 2021 budget.

In addition to continuing to lead Open Worship, in this new role Reverend Perry will work closely with Reverend Lee, as well as ministry areas and staff and laity across all parts of the congregation, to facilitate strategic planning, collaboration, integration, alignment and unity: offer strategic support, clarity, and prioritization; assist with new initiatives; and encourage ministry effectiveness. The primary areas of attention, leadership and oversight will be strategic development, team leadership and coordination, ministry and discipleship fruitfulness, and church-wide collaboration and alignment.

Please join me in congratulating Reverend Jonathan Perry on this new position. He can be reached at jperry@fumc-denton.com.
