An Update on Our Church’s Operations and Staffing
Dear Church Family,
We want to share some updates about our staffing and structure.
After careful consideration with the Trustees, Treasurer, and other key leaders, the Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) has approved the creation of a new Operations Director role that will oversee the church’s finance, facilities, and human resources work. This change is intended to strengthen coordination across these areas and support the long-term vitality of FUMC Denton. Additionally, we recognize the need to increase our church's commitment in Jesús Fuente de Vida, as we seek to minister with our Spanish-speaking neighbors and reflect more clearly the rich diversity of Denton County.
As part of this transition:
The Finance Director and Facilities Director positions will be eliminated.
Since May of 2024, Jasmine Hutchins has served FUMC Denton as Finance Director. She has served with care, integrity, and professionalism, and it has been our pleasure to have her on the team and grow to know her as a person. Unfortunately, Jasmine’s time on our staff will come to an end on February 26; we are grateful for her time with us and wish her well.
Pastor Martha Segundo currently serves as both Facilities Director and Pastor of Jesús Fuente de Vida; this restructure allows for her increased capacity as Associate Pastor (from quarter-time to half-time) and she will remain involved in facilities support as part of a team-based approach. We are excited to invest more deeply in Pastor Martha Segundo and Jesús Fuente de Vida for their future flourishing!
During the coming weeks:
Jasmine will continue to lead our Finance Office through late February. Additional interim plans will be communicated clearly in February in consultation with Angie Matthews (FUMC Denton Treasurer).
Facilities oversight will continue uninterrupted while Martha continues to serve in her capacity as Facilities Director until the new Operations Director is hired.
We have begun the search for an Operations Director today (link can be found HERE), with the hope of welcoming someone into this role this spring.
We know that change can raise questions, and we are committed to communicating clearly and transparently as this process unfolds. Please keep our staff and leadership in your prayers as we take these steps together, trusting God’s guidance for our shared ministry.
