Celebrating Dr. Teresa Starrett’s Retirement

Dear Church Family,

Dr. Teresa Starrett, our Director of Children’s Ministries, has announced that she will be retiring from her position later this month in order to better care for her family and friends. Since 2020, Teresa has faithfully and excellently led our ministries to children, providing nurturing and inspiring faith formation for children of all ages.

We are grateful for all she has done for the kids of this church and community and the volunteers and staff who work to care for them. Teresa will still be part of FUMC Denton and volunteering in many ways, but we will miss her leadership and service as Director of Children’s Ministries. Thank you, Teresa!

Teresa wanted to share these words with the family of FUMC Denton:

It has been my honor and privilege to work with the children and families at FUMC Denton, and it is so hard for me to believe that we have come so far! It seems like yesterday, during the pandemic , when I would deliver bags to your front doors and wave from afar or enjoy cocoa and chat with your precious children on Zoom. Now, I get to hold babies in real life in our nursery and witness the miracle of God’s love through your children’s eyes each and every week. I am eternally grateful to our incredible staff and volunteers. Without them, this truly would not be possible. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives. —Dr. Teresa Starrett

Teresa’s last day on staff will be Thursday, February 16. Along with our incredible children’s volunteers and Children’s Ministry Council, Kate Mears, our Children’s Ministry Assistant, will be providing leadership for our children’s ministries as our Staff-Parish Relations Committee works to support children’s ministries and chart next steps.

You can reach out to Teresa at tstarrett@fumc-denton.com to express your appreciation and well wishes for her retirement in the coming weeks. Additionally, our Staff-Parish Relations Committee will be hosting an opportunity to thank Teresa in person on Sunday, February 12th at 12:15pm in Miller Center. Please join us in celebrating Teresa’s ministry!

In Christ,
Rev. Don Lee, Lead Pastor
