Introducing Jamie Rives, Director of Music for Children & Youth

Dear Church Family,

We are excited to announce that Jamie Rives has accepted the position of Associate Director of Music for Children & Youth at FUMC Denton. She began her new position on January 1, 2023. 

Jamie brings a wealth of experience to our church. She currently teaches elementary music methods in the UNT College of Music, mentors student teachers, and teaches for the Denton ISD academy after many years as the music specialist at Hawk Elementary. Additionally, she has served as the Children’s Choir Director at Martin UMC in Bedford and Lover’s Lane UMC in Dallas, where she was also the Director of Children’s Ministry. 

Jamie is also no stranger to FUMC Denton having been a member for many years and having subbed for Mr. Cheek in the past.

In her position, Jamie will be responsible for our Children’s Choir and will also assist with the Credo Youth Choir. She will help resource VBS music and we are also working on an exciting new summer music camp! More information coming soon.

Children's Choir meets on Sunday mornings at 9:15 AM in the second floor children’s gathering room of the East Wing, Room 241. Kids in K-5th grade are welcome to join Mrs. Rives and start this new year with wonderful singing! They will perform at various times throughout the year in our worship services.
