Talking with your child about human sexuality can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Teaching the Talk is a seminar designed to equip parents of all ages with tools, language, and confidence to have healthy, faithful, and age-appropriate conversations with their children.
During this session, we’ll explore the Six Principles of Sexual Health, the differences between abstinence-only and medically accurate, evidence-based sex education, and the United Methodist Church’s Social Principles related to human sexuality. Participants will be invited to reflect on and identify personal and family values, learn how to create safe environments for questions and mistakes, and practice real-life conversations through guided role-playing in small groups.
This seminar is especially encouraged for parents whose students will be participating in the Wonderfully Made Workshop the following weekend, but it is open and valuable for parents at any stage. Our goal is to empower you to continue these important conversations with clarity, compassion, and faith.
