Currently, all Denton ISD children can attend a back to school event and receive free school supplies along with health and hygiene items. However, no assistance for clothing is available. Counselors at our partner school, Rivera Elementary, have identified many children who need appropriate clothing and shoes to support their school attendance. They have asked us to provide gift cards so parents can shop for appropriately sized clothing and shoes.

Throughout August, we are collecting donations or Walmart/Target gift cards for Rivera Elementary students who need new clothing and shoes for school. If you are donating gift cards, please write the dollar amount of the gift card on the back. If you would like to donate to the August Mission Corner for the church to purchase a gift card on your behalf, give online at fumcdenton.com/give and select “General Missions” in the drop-down menu and write “August Mission Corner” in the memo line or checks can be made out to the church with the Memo Line: August Mission Corner. Any gift card is welcome. Our goal is to provide $50 to each child.

Please bring your donations with you to worship on Sundays. Donations can also be brought to church to the Ivy Garden entrance of the church on Locust Street during the week, Monday-Thursday, from 9-4 pm.
