Freeing Jesus: Jesus as Friend

We’re starting a new series this Sunday called Freeing Jesus. Jesus isn’t actually being held captive, but in our thinking, we can put Jesus in a box. We need to free ourselves to understand Jesus and his ministry to us in new ways. Those of us who have experienced the love of Jesus are called to share that love with others. We are called to have what Paul called “the mind that was in Christ,” living lives centered on loving God and loving our neighbor. How we understand Jesus affects how we live out that call. Over the next several weeks, we’ll be looking at Jesus as friend, teacher, Savior, the Way, as presence, Lord, and as hope from now until Easter. You’re invited to join us; we pray that you’ll experience Jesus in a new way. We also have a Lenten devotional guide called 40 Days with Jesus that you can pick up in the Library or in various spaces around the church. We encourage you to pray your way through Lent along with the rest of the FUMC Denton church family.
