Reunion: Meeting Jesus’ Love Amidst Our Questions

Nicodemus had questions. Nicodemus was a seeker. His heart had been stirred by the miracles and teachings of Jesus and he knew he had felt the power of the Holy Spirit in a tangible, real way. We may feel a lot like Nicodemus right now: confused, heartbroken, and grasping for answers in the midst of a great tragedy that has sobered our nation and touched the deepest part of our humanity. This week, after 19 children and 2 adults were murdered in the safety of their neighborhood school, we taste the bitter realization that violence is the true state of our humanity. We ask questions and plead with God in our despair: Why? How? How can a good God allow this to happen to children? How have we failed to protect our children so tragically? As followers of Jesus, what do we do? How do we respond? On Sunday, we will meet Jesus again for the first time through the eyes of these daring questions. I hope throughout this week you can give yourself permission to be like Nicodemus and confront Jesus with your own pain and questions. Jesus will meet them.
