Pentecost

Life is a gift. We tend to remember and celebrate this most often on our birthdays. And who doesn’t love a birthday party, the cake, candles, gifts, decorations, and of course, the traditional “Happy Birthday” song! Birthdays are about celebration and giving thanks. Every year on Pentecost Sunday, the Christian church celebrates its birth. In the bible story, (Acts 2) the Holy Spirit shows up at Pentecost to incite and inspire the disciples to proclaim the story of God’s love in Jesus. As the Spirit blows through the disciples’ lives, those in their orbit are both drawn in and inspired to respond to God’s love, becoming a part of the Spirit’s movement through the church, to change the world for good and for God. This Sunday is Pentecost. In Open, Mosaic and our Sanctuary services, we will gather to celebrate the birth of the church, to sing, and pray and celebrate communion together. Then, refreshed and inspired by the Spirit, we will go out into our communities to be the people through whom God intends to change the world.
