Heart of the City
This Sunday, our worshipping communities will begin a new worship series titled, “The Heart of the City.” In the Old Testament book of Jeremiah, Jews living in Jerusalem have been exiled to Babylon living in what amounts to indentured servitude. While these exiles long to return home, the prophet instead instructs them to become part of the fabric of the city, promising that in it’s welfare, is their own. As a church, we are to be for the city. We are not just located at the heart of the city, we are destined to become “the heart of the city”. God’s bigger picture for us is to seek the welfare, peace, and prosperity of our community, to help it flourish.
