School Supplies & Sharing Love with our Healthcare Community & More!
Our church was able to deliver the school supplies you collected throughout August to Rivera Elementary! They were overjoyed to receive this donation. Also, a few members of our church were able to greet and offer encouragement to our local healthcare workers at the Denton Presbyterian Hospital. Thank you for all of the ways that your generosity makes a difference in our community!
The Missions Committee was also able to send $1,000 to Refugee Services of North Texas to help with the resettlement of 324 Afghan families in Dallas. They also voted to send $500 to UMCOR for relief work in Haiti. UMCOR is working with partner agencies in Haiti and will stay with that effort for a considerable period of time. The Missions Committee was also able to send $400 to ODIM Guatemala to help our friends in the lake area with food needs.
There will be needs in Louisiana from Hurricane Ida as well. We are following the news and UMCOR and will be addressing how FUMC Denton can support relief in the coming days. If you're interested in supporting these efforts specifically, donations can be made by check with “Disaster Relief Missions” on the memo line. Thank you for all the ways you are shining God's love into every life by caring for our neighbors!
