Honored to Host: Supporting DCFOF’s Adopt-A-Family Drive
We are deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to host Denton County Friends of the Family’s Adopt-A-Family drive this holiday season here at First United Methodist Church Denton.
Thanks to the incredible work of Denton County Friends of the Family (DCFOF) and the overwhelming generosity of the wider Denton County community, over 350 families were adopted and more than 700 children were supported through this year’s drive. Because of this collective effort, the holiday season will be brighter and a little less burdensome for so many families.
Our role in this meaningful week was simple but important: opening our doors. Because of the generosity of our congregation, we are able to offer our gym as a distribution center at no cost, providing DCFOF with the space they need to carry out their vital work of supporting survivors of domestic violence and abuse. We are honored to support their mission in this way and to help remove barriers so they can focus on caring for families.
We extend our deepest thanks to Denton County Friends of the Family, their incredible staff, volunteers, partners, donors, and community organizations who made this week such a success. To our church community: thank you for your generosity that makes this possible—for sustaining a space that can be shared, for supporting partnerships rooted in justice and care, and for living out love in tangible ways. It is a gift to be able to say “yes” to this work.
We are honored to stand alongside DCFOF and to support their life-changing work in our community!
