State of the Church Address
Dear Church Family,
Scott and I want to say a heartfelt thank you to all of you who were able to attend our State of the Church address. It was a joy to gather and celebrate the many good things happening here at FUMC Denton. These past 20 months have been a season of real transformation, and we are filled with hope and anticipation for what lies ahead. If you have any questions or would like anything clarified, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Scott or me. And for those who were unable to attend, you can watch the address here:
On Sunday, we shared a lot of data and statistics about the growth of our church. Much of our reporting focused on numbers. But this week, I was reminded of the things that can’t be measured.
I had the opportunity to spend meaningful time in pastoral care—visiting with some of our homebound members, praying together, sharing stories. I sat down for lunch with a member and caught up on her life. I also had the chance to meet with someone visiting our church for the very first time. I can report visits in a spreadsheet, I suppose, but I can't necessarily measure the impact or time.
But this is the work that matters.
In fact, I would say it matters even more than the numbers, the projects, or the budgets.
These quiet, sacred moments—of presence, listening, prayer, and connection—are what remind me why I was called to be a pastor in the first place.
As we look ahead to the many exciting initiatives and projects before us, may we never lose sight of these small but holy moments.
Grateful for you,
Raegan
