In-Person Worship Opportunities
October 13, 2020
Dear Church Family,
We recently sent out a follow-up survey to better understand how you’re experiencing online worship and what your hopes are for returning to in-person gatherings. The survey results indicate that the majority of our community would prefer to continue with online worship until they feel it is safer to gather in-person. Nearly a quarter of respondents said they were ready to return as soon as possible.
As you know, we’ve been striving to live out our call to “Do No Harm” and we have been so grateful for your faithfulness this year in worshipping as an online body of Christ. We’ve learned many lessons during this time and we’ve come to understand that some have difficulty connecting spiritually through online worship, and we’ve been exploring the best ways to help all of our church family connect during this time.
So, we are excited to share some upcoming in-person opportunities for worship. Your pastors and church staff have put together some great new ways to come together in person for prayer, praise, and fellowship. You’ll find the details of those gatherings below, and watch for more opportunities to be added soon.
On Sunday, November 1 at 9 am, we will host a simple in-person communion service in the Sanctuary. Reservations will be required along with masks and social distancing so that we can better ensure the safety of our community. Click here to reserve a seat and see more details about what to expect.
Then, beginning on November 29, we will host 9 am Communion services in the Sanctuary every Sunday morning through the Advent season. These will not be specific to one worshipping community, rather an opportunity for anyone in our church family to gather.
We will also continue streaming all services as we have been at least through the end of the year.
If you are ready for in-person opportunities but would feel safer gathering outside, we have already begun offering outdoor Worship on the Lawn on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm. On Sunday, October 25 at 9 am, we will host an outdoor communion service similar to what we did on October 1. All are welcome. There will be more outdoor opportunities to come. Stay tuned.
Sign up for our newsletter to stay in the loop on all of these opportunities and those coming up. eep an eye out for more details in the weeks to come. We hope that these new in-person opportunities will be a blessing and that they will help us all connect more deeply during this time. We also hope that continuing our online gatherings will continue to bless you and your families until it is safe for us to return to Sundays as usual.
We continue to pray for our church family and look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday, November 1, and Sundays in Advent, either in-person or online. It is a joy to be part of this family of faith. We will continue to seek God in how to faithfully serve during this time.
Peace & Thanks,
The Pastors & Staff of FUMC Denton
