United Women in Faith is the largest U.S. denominational women’s mission organization. UWFaith has been advocating for and supporting programs to empower women and improve life for women, children and youth in the U.S. and internationally since 1869. The organization has had many names, but the mission has remained the same. Their core belief that, Love in Action Can Change the World, has not changed.
In 1940, women at FUMC-Denton organized their first small groups called circles. Throughout these 84 years, the intergenerational United Women in Faith at FUMC-Denton have been active advocating for and supporting the missions and ministries of this organization. Using our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness, members in our local unit put love into action as we continue to advocate for and support Denton Christian Pre-School, Interfaith Ministries, Denton County Friends of the Family, Denton Association of Christian Women, Cumberland Youth and Family Services, UMCOR, two UWFaith National Mission Institutions located in Dallas, Bethlehem Center and Wesley Rankin Center. We have sponsored, initiated and led programs on social, climate and environmental justice issues at the local, district and conference levels. We are not done because empowering women, improving their lives and the lives of children and youth is ongoing.
UWF will be helping lead worship this Sunday and all women are invited to celebrate together during lunch in Miller Center following the 11:00 services.
