This week's "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man" book discussion readings will be on the topic of systemic racism, implicit bias, white privilege, and reverse racism. Please read pages 21-94 and be ready for a conversation. Email Georgianne Burlage at gburlage@aol.com if you have questions.
We continue to grow in racial justice education. Join us as we read "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man" by Emmanuel Acho. Acho describes racism as a “virus of the mind that can become lethal," for we cannot fix a problem that we don’t realize we have. “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man” attempts to answer questions like “How can I have white privilege if I’m not wealthy,” “What do you see when you see me?”, and “Is there reverse racism?”
This book’s goal is to begin conservations on how we can begin sweeping change and end racism in our communities. It is a challenge to begin changing the national narrative on racism but first, we need to begin the dialogue, recognize issues and ways to alter this narrative, and decide on how to take action.
Mosaic Leader, Georgianne Burlage, will be leading this study and we can't wait to grow and learn with you!
