"Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man"- Book Study

  • First United Methodist Church of Denton 201 South Locust Street Denton, TX, 76201 United States (map)

Our Mosaic Community is beginning their second book study as we continue to grow in racial justice education. Join us as we read "Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man" by Emmanuel Acho. Acho describes racism as a “virus of the mind that can become lethal," for we cannot fix a problem that we don’t realize we have. “Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man” attempts to answer questions like “How can I have white privilege if I’m not wealthy,” “What do you see when you see me?”, and “Is there reverse racism?”

This book’s goal is to begin conservations on how we can begin sweeping change and end racism in our communities. It is a challenge to begin changing the national narrative on racism but first, we need to begin the dialogue, recognize issues and ways to alter this narrative, and decide on how to take action.

Mosaic Leader, Georgianne Burlage, will be leading this study and we can't wait to grow and learn with you!
