North TX Overdose Awareness Day
Sunday, August 31 · 6:30 p.m.
Lawn of Denton Courthouse on the Square
International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on August 31 each year to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have died as a result of drug overdose.
On this night, the courthouse and downtown skyline will light up purple in support of this cause. The event will include featured speakers, 40+ resource providers, live music, food, balloon art, prayers from our pastors, and a memorial. This is a free event open to the public.

In 2018, the Roland Family created North TX Overdose Awareness Day in memory of Randy Roland and have hosted this event each year with the help of friends, organizations, businesses, and the City and County of Denton. NTXOAD has become a meaningful community event with ever increasing awareness and attendance. This year in collaboration with Jacob's Journey and the Burdette family, the tradition of NTXOAD continues.
