Caring Congregation Cohort

  • First United Methodist Church of Denton 201 South Locust Street Denton, TX, 76201 United States (map)

The Horizons Texas Conference has invited us to participate in a hybrid (in-person and online) cohort designed to help clergy and laity build, strengthen, and expand care and healing ministries that reach both within the church and into the wider community.

Through guided teaching, practical tools, and shared learning, participants will explore why systems of care matter, what effective day-to-day caring looks like, and how intentional care ministries help churches reach new people and deepen discipleship. This cohort will help churches evaluate their current ministry context, organize or expand a care team, and take concrete next steps toward launching or deepening a sustainable care ministry that reflects Christ’s healing presence.

The training combines in-person gatherings with live Zoom sessions and is designed for both new and existing care teams. Churches may participate individually or as a group, making this an ideal opportunity for pastors, staff, and lay leaders to learn and discern together.

Medium-Large Churches Option 2 Schedule:

  • In-Person Kickoff: Saturday, February 14 | 10:30am–Noon (Hosted at FUMC Denton)

  • Online Sessions (Zoom): Mondays, February 16, 23; March 2, 9, 16 | 7–8:30pm

  • In-Person Conclusion: Saturday, March 21 | 10am–2pm (Hosted at FUMC Denton)
