Maternal and infant mortality rates in Texas have significant disparities. Women of color experience a disproportionately high risk of avoidable deaths. Experts will help us understand the reality of this preventable tragedy and the policy and cultural barriers responsible. Together we'll discuss how we can be a force for change.

Speakers:

Dr. Kyrah Brown, PhD is a health equity researcher and community psychologist, assistant professor of public health at UT-Arlington, and Research Director of the Maternal & Reproductive Health Equity Research Lab.

Dr. Kristen Priddy, PhD, RN, CNS has taught nursing students in OB clinicals and provided nursing care to critically ill newborns. Considered an authority in the Dallas area, she has participated in hospital-based fetal/infant mortality review committees.
