February Mission Corner: Gift Cards for Spring Break Food Baskets

  • First United Methodist Church of Denton 201 South Locust Street Denton, TX, 76201 United States (map)

Communities in Schools of North Texas partners each spring with FUMC Denton to provide food for Denton ISD families whose children depend on the school breakfast and lunch programs for meals when school is in session. Feeding children during spring break, March 10-17, is a challenge for food insecure families. Our Mission Corner goal in February is to provide grocery store gift cards for selected families at Tomas Rivera Elementary School and Bettye Myers Middle School. We have chosen Kroger and Walmart because their locations are proximate to both schools. The amount each family receives will be determined by the number of children in the home.

To participate, you may:

  • Give Kroger or Walmart gift cards in the amount of $50 or a component of $50 ($5, $10, $15, $20, $25, $30, etc.). Please write the amount the gift card is worth on the gift card before donating. Drop gift cards off in any worship space on Sunday mornings or at the Ivey Garden entrance to FUMC Denton during business hours.

  • Donate money through fumcdenton.com/give and select “General Missions” from the drop-down menu or mail checks to FUMC Denton. Designate funds to general mission with "February Mission Corner” in the memo line both online and via check.
