Christmas Day
This season at FUMC Denton has been a wonderful celebration of God’s love in this special community. From the Advent Devotional written and illustrated by our youth, youth families, and others, to the community-welcoming Evening in Bethlehem and continued conversation about our workforce housing opportunity. From the sublime Lessons and Carols service led by our Chancel Choir and music ministry, to the joyous fun of the Modern Christmas concert, to so, so much more — this season has been a full and fantastic celebration of what it means to be part of the faith family at First United Methodist Church of Denton. But our worship series, Awkward Family Christmas, has also reminded us that Christmas isn’t just about the big events and the big deals, it is about Emmanuel, God with us, in every season of life. It is not the pristine and the perfect that makes the season special, it is about the sacred presence of the God of love, experienced in Christ Jesus, that makes all of life abundant and meaningful, no matter the circumstance. And it is a reminder that just as God brought Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds, and others together for something profound, we as a faith community experience something profound when we come together around God’s love, joining our hearts to adore the Jesus who welcomes us all.
