Being Love: What’s God Like? (Palm Sunday)

Welcome to Holy Week at FUMC Denton! This Palm Sunday, we will wrap up the Lenten sermon series, “Being Love.” As a church, we’ve been learning to “be love” wherever we are. Now we get a glimpse of the kind of God we both love and worship. Our scripture is the story of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey, often referred to as the “Triumphal Entry.” As he does, people gather to welcome Jesus with palm branches and shouts of “Hosanna!” While some visions of God are hard to love, on Palm Sunday, Jesus takes all those visions of power and coercion and conquering gods and kings and shows us a clear picture of the kind of God we worship and love.
