Wholehearted: Easter

One of the foundational beliefs of the Church is the resurrection of Christ. However you look at it, Jesus’ overcoming death is a testament to the power of God’s love. As Romans 8 so wonderfully puts it, “Nothing [not even death] can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The God who wholeheartedly loves the creation, in whose image every human being has been made, and who in Jesus, has stepped down into the humus of our everyday lives proving, “There ain’t no mountain high enough, ain’t no valley low enough, ain’t no river wide enough” to keep God’s love from us. On Easter we celebrate the Christ who is living among us and whose resurrection makes all who welcome him, an Easter people. This side of the cross and empty tomb—there is new life.
