Great is Thy Faithfulness

In ancient Israel, the community had a practice: whenever that had seen God be faithful in their lives, they would take stones and pile them up as a marker that helped them remember that God was with them. These “ebenezer” stones, or stones of remembrance, stood as reminders every time the community walked past, for generations — “God has been and is faithful. And God will be as well.”

In this upcoming series, “Bright Hope for Tomorrow”, we will be remembering God’s great faithfulness in our past, finding strength for today, and looking toward a bright hope for our future — for each of us and for our church. Each week, we will explore themes from scripture and the beloved hymn, Great Is Thy Faithfulness. We’ll reflect on God’s faithfulness in our lives and learn together how to set aside our burdens like stones, transforming them into “stones of remembrance” of God's steadfast love both past, present, and in the bright hope for tomorrow.
