Road Trip Playlist: God Who Is Worthy to Be Praised | Psalm 145
Without a doubt, the Psalms have been captured in music more than any of the other biblical texts. This certainly owes to the fact that the Psalms were sung. They were and continue to be songs! The word Psalm is translated from the Hebrew word “tehillim” which means “the melody of praise.” But even more than their history as ritual music, the attraction to this anthology of texts seems to be the commentary they offer on our relationship with God– the intersection of our humanity with our Creator. Taken together the Psalms are a collection of individual theological witnesses that, when we embrace them as our own, become an expression of the fullness of humanity– a story not of finite answers but of relationship between the God who made us in God’s image and who, as Christians we believe, came, in the person of Jesus Christ, to experience full humanity with us. The Psalms are the intermingling of our story with God’s story. Join us for worship this week as we wrap up our “Road trip Playlist” worship series with Psalm 145. One of the final psalms in the book, Psalm 145 reminds us that, no matter how many twists and turns in the road, God has been there before, God is with us, and God is already making the road ahead of us.
The God who created this world, this solar system, this galaxy, the billions of galaxies beyond us also created YOU, with great love and intention. Join us this Sunday as we marvel at the wonder of God.
