Spring Break Food Baskets—Thank You!
Thank you for supporting our local kids and families by giving to our Spring Break Food Baskets in February! Approximately $3570 total was raised and delivered to 12 Denton ISD schools to service over 269 persons struggling with food insecurity in our community.
Our Spring Break Food Basket project includes the Denton ISD schools that are supported by Communities in Schools of North Texas. CISNT provides at each school a site manager, a social worker, who maintains a caseload of about 100 children. Mentoring is one of the services provided to them. The CISNT schools include Rivera Elementary (our partner school) and 12 others. Each site manager selected 4 food insecure families from their community. We were able to supply food for these 52 families, a total of 269 individuals through your generous donations. Your donations turned into gift cards that will provide meals and snacks during Denton ISD spring break, which is March 6—16, when children will not be receiving breakfast and lunch at school.
These pictures were taken at Rivera, Calhoun, Alexander Elementary and Ryan HS as cards were delivered to be distributed to families. Thank you for your generosity that makes a difference in our community and for continuing to shine God’s love into every life!
