During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, one of our blessed FUMC Denton members, Donna Gregory, has been helping folks in an extraordinary way! Donna is an excellent seamstress. She has been making delightfully happy face masks for anyone in need.

I learned about Donna’s generosity from her fellow choir member, Valerie Hobbs. My husband and I each have one of Donna’s masks. I have a friend who works on the shipping line at the WalMart distribution center on 12-hour shifts. When she saw the mask Donna made me she asked for FOUR. The ones she’d been using fit around her ears and after TWELVE hours each nite, her poor ears ached! Being able to tie the mask around her head was a bonus! She needed four so she’d have a clean one each nite for a week’s work.

The masks are double sided (2-layer) pleated fabric with sturdy stitched ties. Donna is not accepting money for these excellent products. She only asks that people Pay It Forward. I chose to pay it forward through an additonal monthly donation in Donna’s honor to our church during this difficult time.

When another friend saw the masks Donna made, she obtained one for each herself and her husband. She made a donation to the Denton Food Bank to “pay” for her masks.

Donna told me this is her way to “Shine God’s Light!” Her mask-making has been a wonderful giving ministry! It’s been encouraging to see how our chuch, even while we are apart, continues to live out our mission to Shine God’s Love Into Every Life!
