A Blessing on Mother’s Day

We give thanks today for all who have lovingly mothered us—

Those who have nurtured and guided us with tenderness and strength.

Those who, made in the image of our Mother God,

Have cradled us in our darkest moments and called us forward toward the dawn.

When we cannot know what is ahead, God our Mother, illuminates the way.

She lights whatever path we take—not just the right one, or the easy one,

But every winding road, every valley we walk through,

Every wrong turn and dead end.

God, our Mother, gives us light.

Even when the shadows linger, when grief is crushing

When we cannot face what comes next

When the the hurt we know feels safer than the future we don’t

God’s light is already ahead of us and within us.

We are already tucked safely into her love

And there we can discover that the strength we need

Is always closer than we think.
