The Rivera Partnership Helped 150 Kids Meet Animals

The Mission Team recently contributed funds to enable the Denton ISD Preschool Summer School program to bring animals from Cathy's Critters in Princeton to enrich the learning of the 150 kindergarten and pre-kindergarten children enrolled. The children, who are English language learners considered at risk on school readiness and socioeconomic measures, enjoyed meeting, petting, and talking to and about the animals. Their "safari" will stimulate continued talk and reading about animals throughout the summer session. Program director is Maria Melendres Robles, Assistant Principal at Tomas Rivera Elementary School, who we have connected with through the Rivera Partnership.
