COVID-19 at Bridgeport Camp

Dear Church Family,

Many of our youth recently attended Bridgeport high school and junior high camps run by our conference of the United Methodist Church. Unfortunately, even with added precautions, there was exposure to COVID-19 at camp and seven of our 27 FUMC Denton campers, adults and students, tested positive for COVID.

In the interest of everyone’s health and safety, we have asked our campers, adults and students, who either tested positive or are unvaccinated to stay home from church until it is safe for them to return, following the CDC guidelines for COVID exposure. And out of an abundance of caution, the upcoming youth events scheduled will be postponed until it is safe to gather again. Pastor David, who attended both camps, has tested negative twice since his return.

We are deeply committed to the safety and well-being of everyone in this community and will continue to do everything we can to ensure the safety of everyone in this church. To read the full pastoral letter from the North Texas Conference regarding this, click here.

We invite you pray for those who tested positive, both from our church and others in the Bridgeport community. We are not able to release names of those who have tested positive, but if you are able to offer a meal, or a kind note to a family in need, please let us know. If you have questions, please contact Pastor Jonathan Perry at jperry@fumc-denton.com.
