CDC Updated Guidance: Masks Update

March 1, 2022

Dear Church Family,

In every step of our journey through the pandemic, our church has chosen to follow CDC guidelines with the intention of living out our Wesleyan calling to do no harm. This weekend, the CDC updated their guidance in consideration of current high levels of vaccination and high levels of population immunity. They have created community guidelines based on the impact of COVID-19 on local healthcare systems. Through data collection, the COVID-19 community levels are classified as low, medium, or high—each with their own guidelines for community safety.

For low and medium level areas, it is now no longer recommended that we require masks indoors. Because Denton County is a medium level area, we are no longer asking you to wear a mask at the church. You are welcome to continue wearing a mask if you are more comfortable doing so. If you are a high risk individual in a medium level area, the CDC encourages you to check-in with a healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take extra precautions. If you have symptoms or a positive test result, please continue to worship from home and follow CDC recommendations for isolation and quarantine. If you have exposure to someone with COVID-19, please wear a mask indoors.

It has been a long journey, and we want to thank you for your faithfulness and your support of this church family along the way. We are so grateful for your trust and for your enduring kindness through it all. If you have questions, please reach out to our Director of Administration and Operations, Brian Moshier, at bmoshier@fumc-denton.com

Grace & Peace,
Rev. Don Lee, Lead Pastor
Rev. Jonathan Perry, Executive Pastor
