World AIDS Day Awareness

  • First United Methodist Church of Denton 201 South Locust Street Denton, TX, 76201 United States (map)

Join us for a profound and enlightening evening at First United Methodist Church of Denton as we observe World AIDS Day on Sunday. In collaboration with the United Methodist Church's global initiative, our community is coming together to host an educational program that delves into the critical aspects of HIV & AIDS, fostering understanding, empathy, and support.

Event Details:

  • Date: Sunday, December 3

  • Time: 6-8 pm

  • Location: FUMC Denton’s Flinn Hall on the Sycamore St. side of the church

πŸ“š Educational Focus: Explore the fundamental information about AIDS and HIV, understanding what they are, who can be affected, and how we can offer support to those living with these conditions. Our event will feature a presentation by staff from Denton County Public Health, providing valuable insights and facilitating open discussions.

πŸ” Local Health Organization Support: Denton County Public Health and other county services will be tabling to offer on-site, offering educational materials and information on testing services, general health, immunization health, and WIC (women's health). This is an opportunity for everyone to grow in their sexual health education. In particular, the program aims to empower young adults, addressing the findings of a recent GLAAD survey that highlights the need for increased awareness among this demographic.

πŸ’– Community Reflection: As we gather on this special day, we will take a moment to reflect with our community, honoring the lives of those who have been impacted by HIV and AIDS. Together, we will create a space of remembrance and support, emphasizing the importance of compassion and understanding.

πŸš— Parking:
FUMC Denton has two parking lots. The first is located behind the church and accessible from Mulberry Street. The second is on Sycamore Street. Mulberry gives direct access to Miller Center and Sycamore gives direct access to Flinn Hall.
