As a part of our “Start with Why?” Worship Series, we’re seeking the purpose behind different elements of life in the church. Over the next several weeks, you will have the opportunity to engage with ministry areas in the church and volunteer to serve on various ministry teams. This week is worship. Here’s a preview of all the ways you can get connected in serving in worship.
LITURGISTS
Liturgists serve as readers and speakers in worship. Instructions and training are always provided ahead of time. Examples include: Advent Wreath Lighting, Opening Liturgy, Scripture Readers, etc.
COMMUNION SETUP
Help prepare the bread and juice before each communion service and clean up afterwards. This important task supports the worship of all who come to the table at FUMC Denton.
COMMUNION SERVERS
Serve the communion elements on Communion Sundays. Instructions and training are always provided ahead of time.
USHERS
The first persons to welcome folks to worship, our ushers begin our time of worship together by providing hospitality, passing out bulletins, collecting the offering, and helping to facilitate worship.
DECORATIONS TEAM
This team assists with the decorations in the sanctuary and Flinn Hall throughout the year including various tablescapes, Advent/Christmas decorations, candles, and more.
LITURGY WRITING TEAM
Have you ever wanted to learn to write prayers or share in the experience of planning worship? This new team will gather to help plan several collaborative worship experiences throughout the year.
SONG WRITING TEAM
Join other musicians, writers, poets, and artists in our church for collaborative song-writing gatherings throughout the year.
TECH TEAM
Serve on our multi-faceted tech team. Each worship service at FUMC Denton takes somewhere between 3–5 tech volunteers running slides, lights, cameras, and other production equipment. Please indicate if you have a special interest when signing up. Training is provided!
MUSIC TEAM
Do you play an instrument? Are you interested in choir but just haven’t joined yet? Sign-up here so that we can reach out to you to learn of your interests in joining our music team.
CHILDREN’S TIME/OPEN KIDS
Help our kids connect to worship by providing them a short lesson in conncetion with the sermon topic.
