Join us for an important event in our Church and Society Speakers' Series on September 3 at FUMC Denton, featuring Amanda Tyler, a renowned lawyer, advocate, and Executive Director of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty (BJC). Amanda Tyler leads BJC in defending the free exercise of religion and protecting against its establishment by government. She is a prominent voice in advocating for faith freedom for all, and her constitutional law analysis has been featured in major news outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, CBS News, ABC News, CNN, and MSNBC.

In this session, we will delve into the topic of Christian Nationalism: What Is It? Why Should We Care? Christian Nationalism is the belief that Christianity should be privileged in the public sphere and that the U.S. should be officially and formally a Christian nation. This ideology often merges religious identity with national identity, raising concerns about religious liberty and pluralism. Amanda Tyler has testified before Congress on multiple occasions about the threats of Christian Nationalism to religious liberty, providing critical insights into this pressing issue. Her upcoming book, How to End Christian Nationalism, will be published on October 22, 2024, and is available for pre-order now.
