Denton Community Taizé World Communion Service

  • Trinity Presbyterian Church 220 North Bell Avenue Denton, TX, 76209 United States (map)

Sunday, October 2 at 7 pm at Trinity Presbyterian Church

The Denton Taizé Community has fittingly chosen its fall worship to be on World Communion Sunday when all churches acknowledge their companionship in worship and at table. We will be ending World Communion Sunday with a service of Taizé meditative music, scripture, and prayers for people and their struggles around the world. Also, we will again have a communion together that recognizes the global breadth of Christs’ table around the world. Churches participating in the Denton Taizé Community are Trinity Presbyterian Church, FUMC Denton, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, First Christian Church, Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Come join us, and invite a friend!

For those unfamiliar with Taizé worship, it is a contemplative time with meditative music and, of course, scripture and prayers. Its meditative music originated during the chaotic time of World War II in Taizé, France, by a community there who sheltered and aided Jews in their escape during World War II. In Europe, interesting enough, it has become a very popular place among teenagers to come camp and participate, while the Taizé worship meditative style has spread around the world, creating bonds across continents.
