Finding Home for Christmas: Mary’s Song

Our faith community is “Finding Home for Christmas” this Advent. December 5, hear about “God’s Vision of Home” in Luke 1:46-55. Mary of Nazareth encounters God’s messenger in the midst of daily life. God seeks out Mary in her home and finds in her a home for God incarnate. Soon after, Mary finds home with Elizabeth, the relative who receives her and offers safe space, where Mary pours out her heart in the beautiful hymn we call the Magnificat. Mary’s story is no chick flick; it’s the story of God’s solidarity with all people, a story where each of us belongs. In Mary, we see what God’s dream of home is for us–and for God. She is our example of how to participate in the Kindom of Heaven wherever we are, whatever our circumstances, here and now.
