Forgive: The Only Way Out (Part 1)

Imagine if you asked God to forgive you and the response you got back was, “Nope, not going to do it.” We claim to believe in the forgiveness of sins but struggle to live into that belief in our relationships. Just as our relationship with God is only possible because of God’s willingness to forgive, so our relationships with one another only become possible because of our willingness to forgive one another. The refusal to forgive amounts to a form of self-imposed punishment. Naming the hurt is how we move beyond bare facts to raw feelings. At some level, letting go involves recognizing how you’ve contributed to the problem.
