At the Table: Zacchaeus
Faith is often called a journey. Jesus describes faith as a hard path that few find (Matthew 7:14). This image works for me because I think following Jesus and growing deeper in my faith involves moving closer to God. And in my mind, there are few spiritual practices that can accomplish this “movement” than gratitude expressed as generosity. This is perhaps the deeper meaning of Sunday’s scripture from Luke 19. Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector meets Jesus and is so moved by that encounter, he embodies his gratitude in generous living. Generosity is a kind of GPS that moves us closer to God, and in the process, moves us closer to one another. Join us as we explore the God who both generously blesses us and calls us to generous lives.
