The Art of Wisdom: Faith & Action

This summer, we’ve been studying the wisdom found in the book of James. One of its most famous verses lifts up putting love into action as an essential for the life of a Jesus follower. “Faith without works is dead”, James says with characteristic terse simplicity. The corollary is also true — as we experience in the church when it is at its best.

Faith that is working — putting love into action, doing justice, living out mercy — is alive. Whether it be the great ways our church engages in mission and service to its neighbor, long-term endeavors like pursuing affordable housing, or just the simple acts of welcoming all-people with the inclusive welcome of love, when this church puts faith to work, it is alive and life-giving. It is no wonder it is one of our favorite things about life together at FUMC Denton.

Thank you for all the ways you do that. And thank you for your generosity that helps that work happen. In the newsletter below, you can find many ways to get involved and put love in to action. Pick one over the coming weeks and see how God brings life through our actions. Join us as we explore this topic this Sunday in worship at 9 and 11. And join our church as it seeks to put love into action throughout the week!
