The Art of Wisdom: Gratitude

This week in worship we continue our series “The Art of Wisdom” journeying through the Book of James to explore the intersection of Jewish wisdom tradition with the way of Jesus. The passage we explore this week invites us to open our attention to God at work around us in the world. “Every good and perfect gift comes from God” — that means that when we see good around us, we see God at work in our world.

One spiritual practice that helps us notice good is the practice of *gratitude*. Recognizing and appreciating all go the good gifts that surround us in our world. That doesn’t mean that everything is good all the time, but thateverywhere, there are good things, all the time. God is everywhere, all the time, and practicing gratitude helps us notice that good and perfect presence, even in the midst of messy seasons.
