How to Build a Bridge: The Purpose

This Sunday, we’ll begin a new series in worship titled, “How to Build a Bridge.” Simply put, a bridge is a device that helps join things together. Bridges are a part of our everyday lives, so much so, that most of us don’t even think about them even as we are crossing them. A bridge can also be a metaphor for that which connects us to others. I believe Jesus calls his church to be a community of bridge builders, disciples who work together to unite people into a shared love of God and neighbor. Bridge builders are people who see a need and realize God has them there to do something about it. Bridge building is redemptive work! Our job is to help people bridge the divides that keep us apart from one another.
