Deep Roots, Wide Branches: Tradition

“Saint” from the Latin Sanctus or holy. While the apostle Paul used the word “saint” to describe the church members he was writing to, today we often think of saints as being those who have loved us well and have set an example of faithful Christian life. This Sunday, for All Saints, we will be honoring the saints of our lives by reading their names, lighting candles in their honor or memory, and remembering their gifts of life, love, and service. Of course, allowing our saints example of faithfulness to direct our paths is the best way to honor them! Our scripture for Sunday is Hebrews 12:1-3, as we continue the worship series, “Deep Roots and Wide Branches,” focusing on the role “tradition” plays in enlightening our reading of scripture.
